Simon Roberts took his photographs using a large format camera, producing prints that reveal a fantastic level of detail across vast expanses of terrain. He rejoices in his subject matter and the way the landscape is transformed through our consumption of and, interaction with it. Gathered together as We English, his works are an intriguing and lyrical, personal exploration of Englishness.
Included in the exhibition is a new photograph, made in Bradford during 2009. This was commissioned by the National Media Museum and pays homage to some of the defining landmarks of the City.
Simon was a recipient of one of the inaugural National Media Museum Photography Bursary Awards in 2007. This contributed to the completion of We English.
